Late Accounts And Another Councillor Lost

According the the Electoral Commission's website the Party's 2010 accounts are listed as, "SOA not submitted"

How difficult is it to ensure that you file your accounts on time especially when you have been guilty of late filing in the past? That will be another fine incurred and will, yet again, raise questions as to the reasons why.

Other issues have been raised over the last day or so too. Not only the fact that some members who were eligible to vote didn't receive their ballot papers, but that Party resources, including the membership database and Wigton office, were used to "canvas" votes for the current Chairman, one individual had been permitted to change their vote once cast, lapsed members were not being able to renew their membership within the 3 month grace period and the blatant use of the Party's main site to promote Mr Griffin as "the face" of the Party.

Then today, I wake up to the news that another Councillor has resigned the Party Whip. Martyn Findley has now become an Independent in the Barpool ward, Nuneaton and Bedworth in the West Midlands. How many does that leave us with now? He is quoted as saying,

"The BNP has gone backwards."

"I have been involved with the party for more than a decade but the progression has come to a halt and it is not something I could tolerate."

"The decision to quit is something I have been considering for some time."

"I feel I need to be honest, although I will not let my constituents down and will continue to work hard for them."

How can any of us be expected to simply carry on as is nothing is wrong when it so clearly is?
For the record, I do not see the point in the conferences that Andrew is arranging, it's too little, too late and a waste of yet more time. Time that we just don't have in my opinion and judging from some of the comments on the BNPideas site, I am not alone in thinking that.

Andrew has stated that he intends to remain in the Party and as a man of his word, I doubt he will change his mind. A great shame, as I mentioned yesterday, if he were to leave and set up a new Party, it would be seen as serious competition within a matter of months given the sheer number of people that are desperate for him to do just that.

I do genuinely believe that things are far from over. Unfortunately, for the time being, all we can do is wait and see.
